Emerson Process Management improves measurement performance and offers safety certification on its popular Micro Motion F-Series line of compact Coriolis meters. With accuracy described by the company as "unmatched by other Coriolis meters in the compact class," Micro Motion F-Series meters now offer ±0.10% mass flow accuracy, ±0.15% volume accuracy, ±0.50% gas flow accuracy and ±0.001 g/cc density accuracy.
Further, the new F-Series flow measurement specifications have no additional uncertainty component due to zero stability, except at the lowest flow rates in the operating range. In addition, all line sizes of Micro Motion F-Series sensors are now available with the new, TÜV-certified Micro Motion Model 2700 transmitter for use in SIL-2 and SIL-3 applications, making this the only Coriolis meter in its class that is safety certified, according to the company.
The Micro Motion 2700 SIS transmitter is Safety Integrity Level (SIL) certified per IEC 61508. Only available with Micro Motion meters from Emerson, this certification ensures a higher level of safety, which translates to better meter availability in critical processes. Flowmeters without the SIL certification have not been validated against the standard, and may not be able to be used in the same applications.
With the introduction of patented MVD technology, new Micro Motion meters are the only Coriolis meters to offer flat accuracy specification. Instead of other meters accuracy specifications that vary the accuracy over the entire the flow range of the device (based on a zero stability that requires knowledge of the process flow rate to determine accuracy at all flow rates), the flat spec is defined by a perfectly flat line across the typical flow range, with a zero stability that only effects the meter specification at the lowest flow rates.
Whereas the accuracy of all other Coriolis meters is dependent on the flow rate, only Micro Motion meters with MVD are flow rate independent, delivering stated accuracy from the point where flow measurement commences. Use of this rigorous specification methodology means the Micro Motion F-Series meter, with improved sensor design and advanced Micro Motion MVD technology, is more accurate across its entire flow range than any Coriolis meter in the compact, drainable class.
Compact and drainable, Micro Motion F-Series Coriolis meters offer installation flexibility and versatility. Able to fit into tight, existing piping configuration without extensive plumbing modifications, and unaffected by short or adjacent pipe runs, these meters are also designed to drain completely for processes with frequent CIP/SIP (clean-in-place/steam-in-place) procedures; processes that change fluid products frequently; or processes where regulations require the meter to completely drain. Additional options, such as high temperature compatibility, and Hastelloy C-22 construction for extra corrosion resistance, enable the F-Series meters to be used in many processes where drainable Coriolis technology could not have previously been applied.
Micro Motion F-Series Coriolis flowmeters are part of Emersons broad range of digital field devices that power the PlantWeb digital plant architecture. Further cost savings, increased plant availability, and enhanced safety and environmental compliance may be achieved when the flowmeters are integrated into the PlantWeb architecture.
