USDA Webinar Dec. 1 on National Bioengineered Food Disclosure Standard

Nov. 18, 2020
The agency will explain the labeling regulation in advance of the Jan. 1, 2022 compliance deadline.

USDA's Food Disclosure and Labeling Division (FDLD) will hold an informational webinar for the food & beverage industry on the National Bioengineered Food Disclosure Standard on Dec. 1, from 2-3 p.m. ET.

The webinar is meant to help regulated entities, including food manufacturers, importers, and certain retailers, comply with the standard before the mandatory compliance date of Jan. 1, 2022. It will provide an overview of the standard including bioengineered food disclosure options and guidance on compliance and enforcement.

The webinar will be held via ZOOM, which provides a one-direction broadcast. Participants will not be able to present their own video or use their microphones during the live webinar, nor can they submit live questions during the webinar. But they may submit questions in advance to the BE email inbox [email protected].

Back in 2018, Food Processing partnered with Hartman Group on research that delved into consumer perceptions of genetically modified foods (back then the preferred nomenclature was GMOs); about half (is that good or bad?) will avoid them. See our report here.
