ButcherBox Expands Pet Foods, Treats Line onto Own Platform

Feb. 27, 2024
ButcherBox For Pets will allow customers to order pet food, treats and supplements for their dogs on its own standalone site, with expansion of the product line on tap for this year.

Direct-to-consumer meat and seafood brand ButcherBox has launched a new line: ButcherBox For Pets, a line of dry pet food, treats and hip/joint supplements for dogs.

The company has offered treats and hip & joint supplements for dogs to its customers for the last year through the ButcherBox platform, and ButcherBox says sales of those products reached $750,000. However, the new rollout marks the complete ButcherBox For Pets line as well as a new way to purchase the products on a standalone ButcherBoxForPets.com web site.

Mike Salguero, founder and CEO of ButcherBox, sees how most food or meat companies prefer to not put their branding on pet foods and treats, but says, “we are proud of the work we’ve put into sourcing … and we want consumers to know that by seeing our brand front and center on the package means they can trust where and how it was sourced.”

ButcherBox For Pets dry food will be available by subscription, with treats and supplements as add-on purchases. Line extensions into additional treats, supplements, meal toppers and foods — as well as a product offering for cats — are expected within the coming year.
