Bag-in-box fitment optimizes control of dispensed fluids

Colder Products Company recently introduced its Disposable Universal Dispensing Coupler (DUDC)  bag-in-box fitment for liquid food and beverage dispensing systems. The redesigned DUDC fitment has improved flow capacity and enhanced non-spill functionality, resulting in a reliable and self-resealing connection that is cost effective and virtually tamperproof. An IdentiQuik option is available which incorporates an RFID tag in the closure.

As with all CPC non-spill couplings, the DUDC incorporates an easy-to-use thumb latch and an audible “click” indicates when a secure connection is made. Additional operational and safety benefits are possible with CPC’s innovative IdentiQuik couplings, which enable dispensing equipment to automatically exchange product data at the exact time and location of connection.  Manufacturers can use this feature to ensure brand integrity, improve quality control, and automatically calibrate dispensing equipment for the fluid being dispensed.

“With the redesigned DUDC, we are offering a non-spill fitment that helps food and beverage companies achieve closed, sanitary systems,” says Tom Braun, Colder's business unit manager, chemical handling and packaging products. “The DUDC also features a foil seal that protects product contents and provides evidence of possible tampering while helping to ensure safe product handling.”

Commonly used in condiment, sauce, beverage syrup, and dairy food products, the DUDC has received National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) designation.  Its polypropylene materials are Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved.

The UDC Coupling body is available with a variety of standard hose barb sizes including the 3/8" size for connection with common tubing. The 38-mm fitment is designed to fit volume pack bags with standard 38-mm fitment spouts. DUDC fitment materials include polypropylene, FDA Buna, EPDM, and Silicone seals, and 316 stainless steel springs. For customized chemical applications, additional sizes, seals, and spring materials are available by special order.
