An employee at the Woodbridge, N.J., United Premium Foods plant died Friday after falling into a meat processing machine, according to local news reports. The equipment at the United Premium Foods plant in central New Jersey was in operation during the accident, and the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) and local authorities are investigating the details that led to the fatal incident.
The employee’s name had not yet been released, but United Premium Foods called the woman a longtime employee of the company. United Premium Foods processes a wide variety of human foods, as well as premium pet foods, and its web site says it offers slicing, packaging, and ready-to-eat capabilities to process items such as sliced Italian meat and other products that require curing, smoking and/or cooking.
