TreeHouse Foods announced today (June 13) that Robert Aiken Jr., 54, has been appointed president and chief operating officer, effective July 10.
Most recently, Aiken was president/CEO of Essendant Inc., a wholesaler of workplace products, but previously he was president/CEO of foodservice distributor US Foods and president/CEO of Metz Baking Co. He also once headed Feeding America, the largest domestic hunger relief organization.
Aiken takes over immediately from longtime executive Dennis Riordan, who took the job temporarily even after announcing plans to retire. But Aiken really replaces Christopher Sliva, who left in November to head AdvancePierre Foods – which is in the process of being acquired by Tyson Foods.
Riordan will remain with the company and will move to a senior advisor role to facilitate a smooth transition of his responsibilities.
Aiken holds a bachelor of science in business administration from Georgetown University and a law degree from Georgetown University Law Center.
