June 20, 2014
Adds to string of recent acquisitions.

B&G Foods is buying Specialty Brands of America, including Bear Creek Country Kitchens, for $155 million in cash.

B&G has been on a buying spree lately, having acquired Rickland Orchards, Pirate Brands and TrueNorth. Specialty Brands' Bear Creek Country Kitchens brand makes dry soups, Canoleo margarine and Spring Tree maple syrup.

"These brands complement very well our existing portfolio of brands and we believe that B&G Foods will be able to enhance the growth prospects of these brands," said B&G President/CEO David Wenner – who announced he will retire at the end of this year.
