PepsiCo Chairman/CEO Indra Nooyi told CNBC in February there are no plans to split the company into separate soda and snacks businesses – although there was much internal discussion to that end. “The cost of splitting them is enormous and would create untold disruption,” she said, especially in developing markets where they depend upon each other for distribution. However, it took six months of soul-searching to reach that conclusion. The company did announce a worldwide restructuring that may eliminate 8,700 jobs.
