Miyoko’s Creamery to Close Petaluma Processing Plant While Weighing Growth Options

Nov. 10, 2023
Company shifting to “bigger and broader scale opportunities” for production growth, says CEO Stuart Kronauge.

Miyoko’s Creamery will close its Petaluma, Calif., production facility effective Jan. 1, 2024, according to local news reports citing a statement from the company. The company says it needs to increase production and efficiency in the face of continued brand growth, the report said.

Miyoko’s will still be headquartered in Petaluma, company board member James Joaquin told local news, but the processing plant will be shuttered, resulting in the loss of a job for 30 to 40 employees. Miyoko’s appointed a new CEO, Stuart Kronauge, in August of this year, and has see double-digit growth over the last few years. Kronauge said it was time for the company to look at bigger and broader scale opportunities for production growth.

The Petaluma facility produced mozzarella products and some artisan Vegan cheese wheels — production that will now be co-manufactured for Miyoko’s, according to the news report.
