Frito-Lay Plans $235 Million Upgrade of Connecticut Plant

PepsiCo's Frito-Lay division has promised a $235 million expansion project at its Killingly, Conn., manufacturing site, a plan that includes the creation of 120 jobs.

A key part of the expansion is the addition of two Cheetos manufacturing lines. Work is set to begin in spring 2022 and is expected to be complete in the second quarter of 2024.

The Connecticut governor's office announced the expansion, noting Frito-Lay’s Killingly site began operations in 1980 with just 200 employees and currently employs approximately 740 full-timers.

Connecticut Innovations, the state’s strategic venture capital arm, is providing up to $5.5 million in sales and use tax exemptions on capital equipment and construction materials.
