Custom Poultry Processor Jarrett Foods to Open New Plant in Lavonia, Georgia
Poultry-processing company Jarrett Foods will renovate and expand a Lavonia, Ga., building to create a new processing plant in the northeast Georgia town, according to news reports.
Jarrett Foods is a custom further-processor of poultry, and thus, the facility would not include slaughter operations, company president Terry Willis told news outlets. According to a release from the Franklin County Industrial Building Authority cited in the reports, renovation and expansion of the current facility, which stands at just under 45,000 square feet, will begin immediately with an expected grand opening in the first quarter of 2024.
When complete, the new facility will span nearly 54,000 square feet, producing whole bird cut-up custom breast and thigh deboning, breast and tender hand-portioning, marination and re-packaging services, according to the press release cited in the reports.
