Nissin Foods USA to Build Ramen, Noodles Plant in South Carolina

Nov. 9, 2023
The company behind Top Ramen and Cup Noodles will invest $228 million to construct its third U.S. manufacturing facility in Greenville County, S.C.

The manufacturer of Top Ramen and Cup Noodles, Nissin Foods USA, announced its plan to invest $228 million to build its third processing facility in the U.S. in Greenville County, S.C., according to a company announcement. Michael Price, CEO and president, Nissin Foods USA, said the southeast region of the U.S. is a priority market for Nissin Foods, and the Greenville area provided the access and labor the company needs to expand its production.

Nissin Foods currently operates manufacturing plants in Gardena, Calif., and Lancaster, Pa. The new, 640,640-square-foot facility will produce everything from Top Ramen to Cup Noodles, as well as Hot & Spicy Fire Wok and more, and would have capacity for further expansion as demand grows.

Nissin Foods recently reported four consecutive quarters of high double-digit growth, the company said, driven by premium product innovation — including a 28% sales increase in Q1 of 2023 compared to the same period one year prior. Nissin Foods USA made a multimillion-dollar investment into its Lancaster plant in April 2023, increasing overall capacity by 15%, and it also announced it would replace the polystyrene package for its Cup Noodles product with a paper cup design in 2024.

Construction in South Carolina is expected to start in December 2023, and the facility is expected to begin operations in August 2025.
