Equipment Round Up: June 2020

June 11, 2020
Our editors selected the following equipment to feature in our June 2020 issue of Food Processing. See which products they chose.

Making a large deposit

The iFill Depositor is intended for bakery and food producers looking to deposit large volumes, up to 31 oz., in a single deposit, using a simple and compact depositor. Designed for the needs of central kitchens, retail and instore bakeries, the iFill depositor is already used by one of the largest grocery chains in the U.S. Featuring an ergonomic 1-in. hand held nozzle with 5-ft. food grade flexible product hose and a choice of 2 product cylinders, the iFill depositor pumps and portions product directly from any bowl or container. Heavier-duty hoists

The high-performance TCL series Lube Free air hoist line has been expanded to include 3 Ton and 6 Ton capacities. Previously released TCL capacities included ¼ through 1 Ton models. These air hoists operate without air supply lubrication, which leaves the surrounding environment free of oil mist from air exhaust. TCL hoists have an unlimited duty cycle for continuous operation, and extremely fast lifting for applications where speed is critical. These hoists feature precise load positioning with either pendant or cord control and an adjustable overload limiter that will automatically block air flow when an overload is detected. TCL air hoists are recommended for food, chemical and pharmaceutical industries. Harrington Hoists

Small machine mixes in big ideas

The newly redesigned RS-02 Pilot Scale Mixer is suitable for pilot plants and small-scale production, offering a solution for product development, formula optimization, trial mixtures and small production runs. The redesign includes a mobile lift stand with a wider base for added stability and a large, hand crank for easily adjusting mixer height. The portable unit fits through standard width doorways making it easier to transport it within a plant’s product development test labs and production areas. It has a batch capacity of 5-20 gallons and incorporates the company’s patented Rotosolver high shear mixing impeller, effective for wetting out and dispersing powders. Its patented design is engineered to provide the optimal balance between shear and flow so that mixtures are completely homogenous, emulsified, and agglomerate-free in under 10 minutes. Admix Inc.

Safer, longer-lasting fry oils

The OilSaver Filtration System, part of the supplier’s Oil Management System lineup, extends the life of frying oil with continuous high efficiency filtration down to 10 microns. It preserves frying oil quality by removing solids (coating, crumbs, etc.) during production while the fryer is in use. It can be used with any fryer and keeps frying oil in good condition for coated protein products, peanuts, snack foods, appetizers, and other fried foods. In addition, OilSaver’s vacuum technology makes it the safest option on the market with no chance of spraying dangerous, hot oil from the system. Heat and Control

IIoT keeps track of your installed base

IIoT solution platform Netilion is an ecosystem combining digital services and system components to improve the lifecycle and asset management, maintenance and support of instruments and analyzers. It enables users to keep track of their installed base, documentation and data management, and instruments’ performance and health status. Netilion Scanner is a free smartphone app that guides the user in capturing field instrument asset data using QR code or RFID tag. It can store images and instrument location and accessibility. Critical and quality-relevant information can be saved, associated with the instrument tag. Endress+Hauser

Screw conveyor on wheels

The sanitary Flexible Screw Conveyor can be tilted down and rolled to serve multiple functions. Using a manual jack screw, the support boom and conveyor can be raised for discharging into vessels or other process equipment. Fully lowered, it can be rolled through doorways as low as 7 ft. in height, and aisles as narrow as 42 in. Sanitary features include: a caster-mounted frame, support boom and hopper grate constructed of 316 stainless steel, sanitary quick-release clean out cap, quick-disconnect discharge box access cover, stainless control panel with stainless conduit and liquid-tight compression fittings, allowing wash down during changeovers and/or conveying of corrosive materials. HMI controls allow manual and automatic start/stop and speed adjustment. Flexicon Corp

Combustible dust explosion protection

Targo-Vent, an opening angle limiter developed for use with the company’s explosion panels, guides pressure relief specifically into areas in which there is no danger to the adjoining infrastructure. It absorbs the enormous repulsive forces of explosion energy and guides the flames and shock wave in the desired direction. Depending on the particular application or equipment, the flames and shock wave are diverted at a defined angle of approximately 30°-45° upward or to the side so facility operators can minimize the safety areas around the vent opening. The usable area also is increased. Rembe Inc.
