Our editors selected the following equipment to feature in our April 2020 issue of Food Processing. See which products they chose.

Bulk bag conditioner with rotary lift

The Material Master Bulk Bag Conditioner with rotary lift platform quickly and safely returns solidified materials in bulk bags to a free-flowing state. The operator loads the bulk bag into the unit via forklift and activates a PLC controlled conditioning sequence. Twin pivoting conditioning arms with extended travel penetrate deeply into the material for effective results. A robust hydraulic rotary lift platform positions the bulk bag during the conditioning sequence, ensuring the bag is thoroughly conditioned from top to bottom. Patented design returns even the most severely agglomerated materials to a free-flowing state. Material Transfer

Keeping machines healthy

Grundfos Machine Health (GMH) powered by Augury is a real-time analytics and diagnostics solution that provides accurate and actionable in-house analysis on rotating equipment for industrial, water utility and commercial applications. Surprises, emergency service calls and wasteful assets are a thing of the past. The system can optimize maintenance schedules, look into the future and predict what’s coming so processors no longer have sudden system disruptions. Wireless sensors monitor pumps and systems, data is transferred to a secure cloud platform where a robust algorithm detects the slightest vibration, temperature variations and magnetic flux. Any abnormality is translated into a straightforward, actionable task and sent to the maintenance team. Grundfos Pumps

Lifting beam for low headroom

The HSDLB Standard Duty Lifting Beam is designed for low headroom applications. It’s available from ½ thru 40 Ton capacities with outside spreads from 3 to 30 feet. Additional sizes and capacities are also available. To minimize wear, the HSDLB features a precision machined bail for a good connection between the saddle of the hook and the upper radius of the bail. Three standard lift points for load adjustment are included and it is supplied with a pair of heavy-duty swivel hooks. Additional lift points and hardware are available as options. The HSDLB is engineered and manufactured to ASME B30.20 & BTH-1 Design Category B Service Class 2 and has a specified fatigue life of 100,001 to 500,000 load cycles. All HSDLB, Standard Duty Lifting Beams are Proof-Tested to 125% capacity. Harrington Hoists

Conveyor line with clean-in-place option

The DynaClean sanitary conveyors’ clean-in-place (CIP) option assists in the cleaning of processing lines that convey high-risk food safety products such as dairy, eggs, meat, poultry, fish and seafood. The CIP manifold and nozzles are manufactured using stainless steel construction and give the ability to introduce high-pressure water to a conveyor system’s internal components without removing the conveyor belt. The option is suitable for difficult-to-clean areas such as drive sprockets and the belt’s underside and for cleaning elevated and overhead conveyors. It is compatible with both the solid surface and plastic link style of belting offerings on the DynaClean conveyor line. Dynamic Conveyor

Custom storage tanks, vessels and reactors

This supplier of specialty mixing equipment to the process industries worldwide also manufactures ancillary storage tanks, pressure vessels and reactors up to 100,000 gallons. For example, one recently completed horizontal vessel has a full holding capacity of 20,000 gallons, measuring 10 ft. 6 in. OD x 30 ft. long. It's for product storage under atmospheric pressure at 200 degrees F and is UL-142 rated. A 32-in. manway with davit allows easy access for an internally supported insertion heater. The vessel includes various nozzles, saddles and lugs as specified by the end user. Material of construction is stainless steel 304L, blasted and painted with black primer for outdoor exposure. Band saw designed with safety in mind

The Defender 4000 band saw uses a high-speed camera processing algorithm at 500 frames/sec. and a total processing and output time of less than 4 milliseconds. Blade-stopping speeds are under 40 milliseconds, which is 0.040 sec. with a proprietary low-inertia high-horsepower servomotor. The saw also features a specialized drive unit and proprietary zero-backlash wash-down duty gearbox. These features help to reduce the risk of injury from unintended and inadvertent contact with the blade. The fully welded saw can archive emergency stop images and offers quick diagnostics and maintenance troubleshooting. Hollymatic Corp.

Robust X-ray system

A key to reducing false rejects that lead to loss and giveaway is using reliable, robust X-ray systems designed to find contaminants and quality-related inconsistencies in a variety of products. The recently-introduced EPX100-S can be used to detect foreign substances like glass, metal and stone while also performing checks for mass measurement, packaging integrity, component count in a wide variety of food and beverage products, using the latest control and image processing software. Additional Eagle technologies, such as MDX dual energy and SimulTask Pro image processing software, have been shown to significantly reduce false reject rates that can lead to loss of both products and profits.
