The bottle being developed will be paper-based, renewable, and recyclable and made from 100% sustainably sourced wood pulp.

Kraft Heinz is teaming up with sustainable packaging technology company Pulpex to create what could be the first ketchup bottle made entirely of paper. You didn't read that wrong, the company known for its condiments is working with Pulpex to develop a paper-based, renewable and recyclable bottle made from 100 percent sustainably sourced wood pulp.

The bottle is in the prototype stage at the moment, and according to Kraft Heinz, will be tested with consumers before making the bottle more widely available to the market.

“We hope to bring this bottle to market and to be the first sauce brand to provide consumers this choice in their purchasing decisions, as many consumers today are looking for more sustainable packaging options,” said Rashida La Lande, EVP & Global General Counsel and Chief Sustainability and Corporate Affairs Officer at Kraft Heinz.
