Tyson Foods is adding seven production lines to its facility in Caseyville, Ill., in a 170,000-sq.-ft. expansion.

The company held a groundbreaking ceremony Aug. 1, which was attended by Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker. The first of the new lines is scheduled to be installed this fall, with the expansion scheduled for completion by the summer of 2023. The project will cost $180 million.

Opened in 2010, the plant in Caseyville, a suburb of St. Louis, mostly makes products for Tyson’s Hillshire Farm and Jimmy Dean lines of sausages and other products. The new lines will be dedicated to “grab-n-go snacking and breakfast items,” according to a company release. It has almost 300 employees and will add 250 more in the first phase of the expansion.

“We’re thrilled to celebrate the expansion of our Caseyville prepared foods plant, creating new job opportunities for those in the community and keeping ease and efficiency in mind for our current team members,” said Noelle O’Mara, Tyson’s group president for prepared foods, said in the statement.
