Conagra Brands will be shutting down its Birds Eye processing plant in Beaver Dam, Wis., according to local news reports. A company spokesperson told one local news outlet that the company believes it can continue to meet demand for the products producing them in fewer facilities.
Employees were notified April 8 that more than 250 jobs at the facility would be eliminated by the end of the summer. The plant was built in 1972 and joined Conagra in 2018, when it was acquired as a part of Pinnacle Foods.
Production is expected to stop on June 10, with warehouse operations continuing on until Jan. 3, 2025 at the latest, another news report stated. Layoffs will occur in phases starting June 10. Conagra said it was committed “to treating our employees respectfully and fairly throughout this transition,” offering severance benefits to workers.
