Pinnacle Foods Introduces Birds Eye Veggie Farm-fresh Pasta

Dec. 6, 2017
The Birds Eye Brand now offers a pasta variety made from non-starchy vegetables.

Pinnacle Foods Inc., Parsippany, N.J., introduces Birds Eye Veggie Made Pastas, which are made from vegetables and provide a healthy alternative to the typical starchy food. The new pasta variety contains no wheat or flour, fillers or any artificial ingredients. The brand starts with vegetables like zucchini and spinach and combines them with protein-rich lentils to make pasta dough in a way similar to how regular pasta is made. There’s an original (plain) variety for consumers to use in recipes as well as three varieties accompanied with Alfredo, cheddar or marinara sauce. The product comes frozen and can be microwaved directly in the bag.

“Birds Eye Veggie Made Pasta doesn’t just contain vegetable ingredients, and isn’t just plain vegetables cut into shapes of noodles. It looks and tastes just like regular pasta, and it’s made completely out of actual vegetables,” says Risa Cretella, vice president marketing for Birds Eye. “It’s a guilt-free way to enjoy the comforts of pasta with a full serving of vegetables -- without having to boil water or clean pots -- making it an easy choice to include in holiday recipes or any meal.”
