Mondelez North America President and CMO Are Leaving

April 18, 2017
EVP Roberto Marques, CMO Dana Anderson step out; Tim Cofer steps in temporarily as president-North America.

Two key executives are leaving Mondelez International, it was revealed in April: Roberto Marques, an executive vice president and president of North America, and Chief Marketing Officer Dana Anderson.

Mondelez said Tim Cofer, chief growth officer, will fill in for Marques until a permanent replacement is found. Marques will work with Cofer over the next few weeks to ensure a smooth transition.

The company did not immediately officially announce Anderson's departure, but local media reported she is taking the same role at advisory firm MediaLink. Reports also noted Mondelez is reconsidering the CMO role. Already, two people have been hired who could impact that job.

Stefania Gvillo was named global head of strategic insights, joining Mondelez after 15 years at PepsiCo, where she most recently was vice president of portfolio strategy and consumer insights. She replaces Maria Alvarado, who is based in Zurich and plans to leave the company in September.

Mondelez also named Jay Gouliard to the newly created role of global head of packaging. He previously worked at Unilever and Coca-Cola.

Chairman/CEO Irene Rosenfeld said of Marques: "Over the past two years under Roberto Marques' leadership, the North American team has been executing a large transformation, which has resulted in significant progress on our margin agenda, while stepping up our participation in growth areas such as Well-being, broader channel penetration, especially in e-commerce, as well as entering the U.S. chocolate market. We appreciate Roberto's many contributions and wish him well in his future endeavors."

Mondelez didn't say why he's leaving.

In his 25 years with the company, Cofer headed businesses in Europe, Asia Pacific and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa, as well as Oscar Mayer and Kraft Pizza.
