McCormick & Co. Promotes Brendan Foley to CEO

June 29, 2023
Company had already transitioned president role to Foley in June 2022, and he will gain the CEO role from Lawrence Kurzius in September.

McCormick & Co. Inc. has announced the promotion of Brendan Foley to president and CEO, effective Sept. 1, 2023, according to a release from the company. He also will serve on the company’s board of directors effective immediately.

Lawrence Kurzius, who served as chairman and CEO of McCormick for more than seven years, will serve as executive chairman of the board, the release stated. The role of president had already transitioned from Kurzius to Foley in June 2022.

Under Kurzius’ leadership, McCormick sales grew more than 50% and market capitalization more than doubled. Foley has served as a member of the management committee leadership team since 2015, and has acted as the company’s president of the U.S. Consumer division, North America division, Global Consumer, Americas and Asia, and most recently was president and COO. McCormick acquired brands and businesses such as Frank’s RedHot, French’s, Cholula and FONA during that period, and Foley played a significant role in those integrations.

Prior to joining McCormick, he worked for H.J. Heinz for 15 years in marketing and general management roles, and for General Mills Inc. prior to Heinz.
