Brad Schuler, who’s been with Sunsweet Growers Inc. for 25 years, today was named CEO, replacing Dane Lance, who is stepping down after nearly 35 years.

Schuler, who was COO, becomes the fourth consecutive CEO to be hired from within “having observed and assimilated the collective learning of the previous three CEOs,” the company announcement said.

Sunsweet, founded in 1917, is owned by a cooperative network of more than 180 growers. Its prunes are its largest and most successful global brand but it also markets a small handful of other fruits as well as prune juice.
