Nestle USA Grows Its Plant-Based Lineup With New Oven-Ready Frozen Entrees

Nestlé USA adds Sweet Earth Awesome Grounds meat alternative to DiGiorno Rising Crust Meatless Supreme Pizza and Stouffer’s Meatless Lasagna. The two oven-ready frozen entrees are designed for the growing number of consumers adopting a flexitarian lifestyle, as the products may be meat free, but they still contain real dairy cheese. Sweet Earth was acquired by Nestle in 2017, so it was just a matter of time before the plant-based meat alternative manufacturer’s products started appearing in Nestlé’s prepared foods.

The time is right. According to a consumer survey commissioned by the company, nearly half of Americans have either integrated plant-based meat into their diet or would consider doing so long-term. Three in 10 who have not yet tried plant-based meat responded that they would do so given the opportunity. Nearly half indicated they would be very likely to try plant-based meat if used in pizza or lasagna.
